Ndidi Onukwulu (pronounced In-DEE-dee On-OOK-whoo-loo), professionally Ndidi O., is a force of nature in Canadian roots, blues, and Americana—an award-winning singer-songwriter whose adventurous, genre-blurring music springs from a life lived across cultures and continents. Born to a Nigerian father and German mother, and raised in British Columbia, Ndidi draws from a rich tapestry of experiences: her voice, her lineage, and her storytelling all speak of home, of migration, of identity.

Her latest work, It’s About Time (March 2026, Cordova Bay Records), marks a bold new chapter. Recorded in Cork with Irish songwriter Mick Flannery and co-produced by Steve Dawson, the album fuses alt-country swing, roots, and Irish traditional influences with original songs that explore aging, movement, and the art of letting go. Alongside her songwriting, Ndidi adds new interpretations of Irish traditions, threading her narrative voice through both original expression and deep musical heritage.

Ndidi’s reputation as a live performer is formidable. She delivers concerts of raw, honest storytelling, where blues, folk, rock, and soul converge—where her voice, lyrics, banter, impeccable band, and emotional truth combine to leave audiences deeply moved. She has built this presence over nearly two decades, performing internationally and collaborating in various projects—including the trip-hop duo BOGA and The Blue And Gold with Trish Klein.

Her achievements speak to her stature: a 2-time JUNO nominee; winner of the Western Canadian Music Award for Blues Artist of the Year; Maple Blues Award’s New Artist of the Year, among others. Her songs have been featured in TV and streaming projects such as Orange is the New Black, The Flash, Cloak & Dagger, and Netflix’s Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madame C.J. Walker. She divides her time between Vancouver and Ireland.
